A leading broadband service provider is seeking an experienced Fiber Optic Project Manager to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations, planning, execution, and completion of infrastructure and services. This role requires strong leadership, project management skills, and technical expertise to ensure efficient service delivery, operational efficiency, compliance with industry standards, and achievement of performance targets.
The ideal candidate will have a background in telecommunications technology, engineering, management, and process improvement, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities
Operational Leadership:
- Work directly with engineering teams and contract engineers.
- Assist in designing and establishing utility easements and site layouts.
- Oversee telecommunication construction projects, including project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Monitor operational strategies to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Track project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare and present project status reports to senior management and clients.
Budgeting & Management:
- Track project costs, including labor, materials, and equipment.
- Assist in job acceptance packages, noting additional cost factors.
- Monitor budgets and ensure projects stay within approved spending limits.
Reporting & Compliance:
- Use data-driven insights to improve processes, resource allocation, and operations.
- Ensure compliance with all client reporting requirements.
- Provide consistent updates on construction progress and estimated completion dates.
Customer & Vendor Management:
- Oversee customer service operations to ensure timely issue resolution.
- Manage relationships with contractors and vendors to ensure timely job completion.
- Coordinate material and equipment orders to maintain project schedules.
- Monitor vendor performance through all project phases, including construction, splicing, and testing.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and supervise office and field operations teams.
- Provide training, mentorship, and performance management.
- Set clear production targets on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Manage project documentation, including permits, contracts, and change orders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in fiber optic construction or a similar role.
- Minimum 3 years in telecommunications operations, with at least 2 years in a management role.
- Strong knowledge of fiber optic network design, installation, and maintenance.
- Experience in budgeting, scheduling, and resource management.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- PMP certification is a plus.

Work Environment & Requirements:
- Full-time position with occasional travel.
- Office-based role with frequent field visits and client meetings.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Ability to pass a drug screen, background check, and MVR check.
- Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs.
