We are hiring for Switch Technician II in Portland, OR [Will likely be a hybrid position, but open to rotational schedule at the Switch (but mostly day shifts)]
Job Description:
- Function as a technical contributor within and occasionally outside my immediate team. Responsible for staying current in technical theory application and operational discipline. Take on technical and project-related efforts providing communication as directed.
- Solid understanding of theory and application related to project management core networks transport Signaling and interface protocols disaster recovery planning and response data services and location-based services.
- Basic understanding of theory and application related to the radio access network design capacity planning fire suppression systems power systems AC/DC and HVAC.
Must Have:
- RAN preferably Nokia IP transport preferably Nokia SROS platform MS office products some MW experience scripting knowledge.
- Knowledge of Pronghorn OneData Net Master.
- Some Knowledge of Cisco routers and IP inter workings.
- Working experience with ALU/Nokia routers.
- Basic understanding of SIP call routing.
Responsibilities:
- Technical support: Providing technical support within and occasionally outside the immediate team.
- Provides technical support in network performance initiatives and outage resolution and works to identify day-to-day improvement opportunities Project management: Taking on smaller projects or portions of key projects / initiatives providing accurate status and progress updates as requested.
- Equipment upgrades and decommissions at switch sites Fault ticket updating and time management Operations: Identifying and sharing potential process improvements and recommending them to Team Leaders and/or management for consideration.
- Providing input on process improvements related to maintenance and repair activities. Assisting in the creation of job aids scopes of work method/statement of procedure and helpful tools by collaborating closely with Team Leaders.
- Continuous learning: Enrolled in and completed training requirements to stay current on existing and new systems and products grow skills and expand proficiency in company values and organizational requirements.
- Facilities Management: Monitor and rectify building and equipment issues within switches and offices. Consult with eternal companies to progress work. -
What does a typical day look like? daily tasks
- Monitoring the network answering phones working with Fops AAV vendors updating/closing INC and CR confirming site status for Nest requests using tools to create scripts shipping and receiving facilities.
- Along with switch walk throughs working nights daily cleaning of the switch room and related areas shipping and receiving.
- Daily Weekly and other misc. reports.
- Working days nights and weekends. On call rotation combing through e-mail for things that are missed and need to be worked physically or logically/ Preferred background/prior work experience?
- Previous telco experience T-Mobile ATT Verizon or vendors i.e. Nokia Ericsson. Priority soft skills Night work oncall walkthroughs reporting basics willingness to learn and take on new tasks ability to work under pressure in a chaotic tumultuous fast-paced environment. Willing to work in a constantly changing environment. Interrupt Power BI reports and figure out what to do with them.
