Transport ( Backhaul ) Engineer III- Plano, Texas
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Transport Engineer to design and deploy reliable, cost-effective telecom transport solutions that support the deployment of Cell Site Routers (CSR) and their connectivity to the Core Network. This role involves network troubleshooting, technical log analysis, and customer support in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Network Engineering & Support -Design and implement 4G/5G transport solutions for cell sites.
- Analyze network performance, troubleshoot issues, and propose improvements.
- Provide Tier-2/Tier-3 support for network incidents and outages.
- Perform log analysis, network configuration checks, and recommend optimizations.
- Customer & Field Support-Serve as a technical interface to customer market teams.
- Provide back-office support to field technicians during deployments and migrations.
- Work closely with the C&I Team during migrations and resolve field issues.
- Performance & Outage Management Lead Severity 1 (Sev1) and Severity 2 (Sev2) outages, ensuring resolution within SLA.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on network outages and performance issues.
- Proactively perform data audits, software/firmware health checks, and network optimizations.
- Documentation & Reporting-Maintain accurate transport designs, CIQs, and network configurations.
- Prepare daily reports, executive summaries, and presentations for management.
- Provide feedback to script development teams to enhance automation tools.
- Collaboration & Innovation-Work with cross-functional teams, including R&D and customer engineering teams.
- Stay updated on emerging telecom transport technologies (e.g., Open RAN, SDN, NFV).
- Train team members and provide technical guidance on new processes and projects.
Qualifications & Skills
- 5-7 years of experience in Wireless Network Transport Engineering.
- Professional networking certification required – Juniper JNCIP-SP or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of 4G/5G 3GPP network architecture and transport protocols.
- Expert-level knowledge of: Ethernet, ISIS, SR-MPLS, BGP, BGP/L3 VPN.
- Cell site environment and transport requirements.
- Active measurement tools (e.g., TWAMP-Light).
- SNMP, TNM protocols, NMS/OSS interfaces.
