Job Summary
We are seeking a Construction Manager to oversee the daily operations of self-performing installation teams, subcontractors, and superintendents. This role involves managing the construction, installation, and in-service testing of all communications systems related to the project. The Construction Manager will be responsible for supervising project staff and subcontractors through infrastructure design, procurement, construction, and testing of all associated communication networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the jobsite representative for the carrier
- Travel extensively, covering a large area with 95% of time spent on-site
- Ensure compliance with Verizon standards and requirements (Wireless, Tower, Point-to-Point antenna systems)
- Utilize Verizon internal systems and tools (e.g., Fuze)
- Manage projects involving macro sites, towers, and rooftops
- Demonstrate strong computer and communication skills
- Identify and qualify subcontractors for site and building trades
- Coordinate with utility companies regarding project services and infrastructure, including cost and scheduling
- Develop initial project cost estimates and manage budget components
- Monitor schedule performance and ensure quality workmanship from contractors and in-house technicians
- Work closely with contractors, architects, civil engineers, and consultants to develop site-specific value engineering solutions
- Review and manage project-related documentation, including change proposals, requests for information, and supplemental instructions
- Approve contractor payment requests
- Represent the carrier in local meetings, approval meetings, and industry conferences
- Act as a liaison with Federal, State, and Municipal authorities, ensuring compliance with permitting and inspection requirements
- Review tenant leases and obligations to ensure carrier compliance while controlling project costs
- Coordinate with tenant design and construction teams to ensure alignment with project specifications
- Provide ongoing project support, including tenant coordination, dispute resolution, feedback, punch list management, and closeout
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience with construction for Verizon sites and (required)
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in construction, preferably with general contractor experience
- Strong background in macro site builds preferred
- Excellent organizational, consultative, and communication skills
- Prior experience managing construction sites and maintaining client and supplier relationships
- Hands-on experience leading contractors and crews in mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural construction within an industrial setting
- Ability to read engineering drawings and maps
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project
- Clean driving record
- Must be a US Citizen of Green Card holder
