Primary Responsibilities:
· Test all newly installed fire alarms and perform regular inspections to ensure that systems and equipment continue to work per their specifications. Diagnoses cause of electrical problems or failures in assigned systems to identify equipment and/or systems repair.
· Responsible for complete installation, programming, repair, testing, and inspection of the fire detection and signaling systems on a scheduled basis.
· Installs electrical system components as assigned (e.g. panels, audible/visual alarms, pull stations, detectors, etc.) for the purpose of providing enhanced and/or upgraded system capabilities.
· Must travel to customer locations, thoroughly install devices and program all fire alarm panels. Responds to emergencies during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
· Respond to maintenance calls, troubleshooting devices, and using device manuals to repair non-functioning fire alarms and restore them to original functionality or replace them if necessary.
· Instruct customers on proper device use and maintenance measures.
· Perform system and device upgrades on occasion.
· Perform installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures in the following areas: security and fire alarm systems, telecommunications, CCTV, and nurse calls.
· Must be able to pull, terminate, and test all standard industry cable types.
· Ensure that the devices installed meet all local and federal laws and building codes.
· Provides service reports at each service location, completing all necessary paperwork with the client.
· Commits to work until all obligations are met, which may result in overtime.
Basic Qualifications:
- Three years of practical experience as a low-voltage technician.
- Knowledge of all fire safety codes and regulations.
- Clean driving record.
- Nicet I Certification is PREFERRED, but not required.
- Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed.
- Able to lift and move objects weighing up to 100 pounds, work from heights above 10 feet, and work in confined areas
- Able to stand for long periods and to lift, crouch, reach, handle, push, and pull
- Able to work in extremely cold and extremely hot temperatures
- Able to work while exposed to loud sounds and noise levels
