Title Officer Duties and Responsibilities, but are not limited to the following:
• Reviews preliminary title reports to determine insurability, with primary accountability for all title underwriting requirements
• Reviews and approves title in accordance with company procedures and guidelines determines curative requirements needed to insure the transaction
• Reviews customer instructions to determine whether instructions can be met within the limits of the policy requested and the scope of services rendered by the company
• Seeks out and interprets guidance from internal management and outside in order to create a clear to close status on complex files
• Proactively addresses inquiries from internal and external parties professionally and timely, rectifying issues immediately
• May assist with training recorders on approving recording packages and policy instructions
• Attests that all items from title reports, general index matters, and office notes are included in the policy package
• Determines document requirements for recordation, removal of exceptions from reports and policies and the needed documentation needed for the issuance of various title insurance products for specific risk coverage
• Title Officer reviews the search packages for accuracy; performs any additional searches for all documents affecting property according to standard underwriting guidelines
• Examines chain of title; identifies problems and notes requirements for correcting title; determines requirements and exceptions for issuing title commitments
• Requests over limit approvals according to company and underwriter guidelines
• Properly prices commitments, endorsements, policies and guarantees using appropriate schedule of fees and charges
• Title Officer receives and respond to customer inquiries; provides technical expertise to customer inquiries adhering to company and underwriting guidelines
• Consults with customers for verification of facts and details involving the property; takes responsibility for exceptional customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and flexibility.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to assist in delivering industry leading customer service
- Work well in a team environment
- Ability to be the primary point of contact, assisting to resolve all client issues
- Working knowledge of title industry systems and software, ResWare preferred but not required
- Ability to track, resolve and/or escalate time sensitive issues and document in processing systems
Required Experience:
· Minimum of three (3) years of residential resale and/or commercial experience in the title industry
· Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities

Language Skills:
Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to write and speak effectively. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from group of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Mathematical Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to quickly assimilate oral and written data to analyze facts and draw logical conclusions. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
High level of proficiency with computers, software including Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and other technology.
