Job Overview:
As our Director of Programs, you will be responsible for strategic planning and managing functional project managers to ensure timely deployment of wireless and wired infrastructure, in support of various Federal and State Grant Programs. You will also support and prepare required reports for various grants and loans projects.
Director of Programs duties will ensure the project is delivered on time, to budget and to the required quality standards. The Director ensures programs project are effectively resourced and manages relationships with a wide range of groups (including all project contributors internal and external to the Company). The Director is also responsible for managing the work of consultants and vendors by allocating and utilizing resources in an efficient manner and maintaining a co-operative, motivated and successful team.
Nextlink Internet & Voice is a Hudson Oaks, Texas-based Internet Service Provider (ISP) delivering High Speed Internet, data transport and Voice Services throughout Texas, Oklahoma and expanding throughout the mid-western states to residential, business, K-12 Education and government customers. Responsibilities
- Manage assigned programs from inception to completion, ensuring that all activities, including contracting, RF design, product/equipment ordering, permitting regulatory, construction, optimization, site acquisition, close-out, and hand-off to ops are effectively and efficiently coordinated and completed by their respective departments on time within budget and in accordance with the company’s goals.
- Create an effective expense tracking and reporting system to facilitate re-imbursement in appropriate grants.
- Develop and maintain, in coordination with other departments, a map of current and pending programs to include core, transport, sites, and propagation.
- Manage all external vendors necessary for timely completion and within budget.
- Develop accurate project plan and budget for all assigned projects, modify as needed and direct close-out of completed jobs including the receipt of all required documentation.
- Lead internal and external progress meetings with managers and team members to review the status of each program and implement changes as necessary to ensure timely program completion.
- Ensure that all projects are maintained in a project tracking system with complete accuracy.
- Maintain excellent communication with Functional Team Members and Direct Management to ensure early identification of issues a timely reporting of status.
- Lead a team of subordinates to support above tasks and other tasks in support of company goals.
Requirements
- 3 – 5 years of project management within the telecommunications industry.
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking multi-project type skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project a plus.
Other Skills Desired
- 5 years of Project Management or Coordination experience.
- Formal Project Management training such as: PMP certification, VLSS Black Belt, and/or Six Sigma training.
- Advanced knowledge of telecommunications/wireless project management, asset management, tower maintenance and property management.
- Advanced knowledge of Public and Private right of way project deployment, including regulatory and permitting processes.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints along with civil inside & outside plant construction methods or tower/roof top structural details.
- Ability to direct the diagnosis of work flow problems, critical paths and institute remedies.
- Knowledge of construction services: Telco, power, fiber, basic construction, vendor equipment requirements, and antennas.
