Job Description: We are seeking an individual to join our team as a Part-Time Sterile Processing Technician. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the safe, smooth, and efficient operation of our surgical center. The Sterile Processing Technician performs their duties under the direction of the ASC Director and the Director of Nursing. The Sterile Processing Technician shall be certified in sterile processing and have expert knowledge of the functions, processes, and equipment involved in sterile processing.
We are looking for a person that is flexible with their hours of availability. This would be dayshift, with varying days Monday - Friday. We guarantee a minimum of 20 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
- Processing used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for sorting and decontamination for sterilization.
- Manually cleaning instruments of contaminants, removing waste matter, and operating and maintaining decontamination equipment.
- Preparing and packing decontaminated instruments for sterilization.
- Monitoring, documenting and operating sterilization equipment.
- Examining supplies meticulously to ensure they are properly cleaned and sanitized.
- Inspecting, testing, and reporting any issues or problems with the sterilization equipment.
- Sterilizing, assembling, and packaging surgical instrument trays for use during medical procedures.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to prepare and deliver all necessary equipment and instruments for surgeries, examinations, medical procedures, and medical carts.
- Perform and maintain accurate records of sterilization procedures, sterilized items, equipment maintenance, and supplies.
- Managing the supply inventory, reordering supplies, and checking expiration dates.
- Manage and restock anesthesia carts and supply cabinets.
- Assist with materials management including receipt of supplies, supply inventory counts, unboxing of supplies and relocation of supplies to the supply rooms.
- Restocking of PREOP/PACU supply room, patient bays, linen cart.
- Assist clinical staff to turn over patient bays as needed.
Qualifications:
This position requires one of the below certifications:
- CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution).
- CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician).
- CIS (Certified Instrumentation Specialist).
- CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician).
- CDT (Certified Decontamination Technician).
- CMDRT (Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician).
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum two years instrument processing experience required.
- Must have demonstrated competence in instrument set assembly and sterilization across multiple specialties including Urology, Pain, Orthopedics, GYN, to name a few.
- BLS Certification.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
