What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Medical Assistant position at NextPain Care?
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist physicians and during patient examinations, treatments, and procedures, including interventional procedures such as injections, nerve blocks, and epidural steroid injections.
· Take patient histories, record vital signs, and document current symptoms, medications, and allergies.
· Prepare patients for examinations and treatments, ensuring their comfort and safety.
· Administer medications as directed by the physician, including prescribed medications.
· Provide patient education regarding treatments, procedures, and home-care instructions.
· Assist with the preparation, cleaning, and sterilization of equipment and procedure rooms, maintaining a sterile and safe environment.
· Schedule patient appointments, follow-up visits, and coordinate referrals for additional tests or treatments.
· Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient records in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
· Manage patient flow to ensure appointments and procedures run on schedule.
· Assist with insurance verification, pre-authorizations, and patient billing inquiries.
· Perform routine administrative duties such as answering phones, taking messages, and assisting with patient inquiries.
· Maintain inventory of medical supplies and ensure stock levels are adequate.
· Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols and maintain compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
· Monitor and manage patient outcomes post-procedure, ensuring proper follow-up care and communication.
Qualifications:
· Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required.
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and basic office software.
· Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Compassionate, patient-focused attitude with the ability to handle sensitive situations.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and patient care.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to stand and sit for extended periods.
· Ability to lift and assist patients with mobility, as needed.
· Some risk for exposure to hazardous materials, requiring proper use of personal protective equipment.
