As a Body Shop Technician, you are a valued member of our team. This is a skilled position that is responsible for replacing, repairing and refinishing a wide variety of Medium & Heavy Duty Trucks ensuring attention to detail. In this position, you essential duties are to :

  • Conduct detailed inspection of vehicle, parts and components
  • Repair damaged vehicle frames, inner structures and cosmetic aspects. repairs and refinishes semi-tractor and trailers.
  • Installs equipment, components and systems.
  • Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Report machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Ensure that the vehicle is kept clean. Notify service advisor / dispatcher immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
  • Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Return them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, EPA rules and regulations, etc. Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Operates all tools / equipment in a safe manner and reports any safety issues immediately to management.
  • All other duties assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Two years welding, fabricating and / or related experience and / or training.
  • Valid Drivers License. CDL License a plus.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations with only limited resources. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Use of torque wrenches, air powered tools or hand tools.
  • Use of arms in a raised position above shoulder level for prolong periods of time. Use of creeper or rolling device to enable the tech to work underneath a vehicle.
  • Frequently required to walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • Required to stand and sit for extended periods of time (hours) while making repairs.
  • Required to make entry or exit from the cab of the vehicle.
  • Climb to a safe position to access the engine compartment area, firewall or roof of a vehicle to perform repairs.
  • Required to regularly lift and / or move to to 50lbs, frequently lift and / or move up to 100lbs and occasionally lift and / or move more than 100lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to push / pull large tool chest from vehicle to vehicle.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee can be exposed to chemicals and paints.
