Positioned along the banks of the renowned Metolius River, a fly-fishing haven, the resort provides a serene backdrop for anglers and nature enthusiasts alike.

The Metolius River Resort is looking for a full time, live-in caretaker. The position is very part time during winter months and the busy time will require 25 to 30 hours per week.

The candidate for this position must have excellent people skills and be friendly and accommodating. Light handyman experience is also a plus. Applicants must have a background check and be drug free.

Seasonal landscaping maintenance (basically mowing and debris clean up) is also available for an additional monthly payment of $1,000 to $1,250 per month for 8 months for qualified individuals.

Metolius River Resort Care Taker Job Description & Terms of Employment

The Care Taker role is devoted to making sure the cabins and resort grounds are well cared for and maintained and guests and owners have a pleasant experience. This role is a combination of hands-on work and assisting managing service contractors. The Care Taker serves as an interface with owners and guests to ensure the resort provides an outstanding visitor experience.

The Care Taker reports to the HOA Management Company and is responsible to manage, maintain, and communicate status of the Resort and grounds through the HOA manager and or individual cabin owner when needed. The Care Taker is to address any immediate issues that do not support the goal of an outstanding customer experience, guest and owners and report issues to the HOA Manager.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

The Care Taker oversees operations and care of the resort in a professional, friendly manner. Greet guests and address any questions or problems they may have. This includes answering questions related to the use of the cabins, providing extra supplies such.as towels or any other reasonable supplies as needed. Hold regular office hours to allow for guests to seek help and be able to respond to calls from potential guests and cabin owners. Office hours and days off will be agreed on by HOA Manager. Days off are covered by HOA Manager and SVR by telephone.

  • Provide a quiet, safe and secure environment for guests & owners year-round. Walkways are to be kept clear of objects that impede sidewalks.
  • Responsible for daily review of property and cabins. Follows algorithm if repairs are needed.
  • Maintain BBQ's daily for cleanliness and restocking.
  • Manage the projects involving the care and maintenance of the cabins, such as cleaning the decks after each guest/owner use.
  • The Metolius River Resort is marketed as unique and peaceful "cabin on the river" experience. Quiet time begins at 9:00 pm. The manager is responsible to communicate with cabin guests & owners when excessive noise is disturbing to others, regardless of the time of day.
  • Diligence in protection of the resort property includes monitoring a secure environment for all guests. - No Smoking is permitted in the cabins or on the resort grounds; No pets allowed in the cabins or on the grounds (except owner's dogs which must be on leash when outside). Any guests bringing pets will be asked to leave at check-in.

Maintenance - The goal is to keep resort safe, attractive, clean and appealing to guests/owners.

  • Cars in parking stalls only. No RV's or boats are allowed in parking area.
  • Any garden waste should be put in a designated area. away from the entrance; the resort should appear manicured and well kept. The tool shed next to the restaurant is for the Metolius River

Resort's use and not to be used by the restaurant or manager for personal space. Supplies and equipment are safely stored in the shed and it is to be locked after use.

  • Decks are to be cleaned after each guest, and pathways maintained daily.
  • Maintain grounds: The goal is to keep the Resort's esthetic pleasing and not impair the river view. Keeping the beauty and serene atmosphere that is unique to the Metolius River Resort is the owner's goal and the Hosts responsibility. No nets, hammocks or personal outdoor items are to be placed in front of cabins.

Communication:

  • Communication is always respectful and appropriate. The Host is the forward-facing representative of MRR and represents the owners when doing business in the Camp Sherman community and beyond.

Accountability to the HOA Manager:

  • The elected board of the Metolius River Resort HOA will set the direction in matters of operation and governance for the resort to be followed by the HOA Manager and implemented where described by the Care Taker.
  • Bring issues needed for resolution and/or outside of Care Takers scope of knowledge/control to the HOA Manager's attention in a timely manner. All incidents that occur on the Resort Property should be brought to the HOA Manager for information only or if follow up is needed.

Create a Good First Impression

  • Dress shall be neat, clean and appropriate.
  • Guests shall be greeted in a pleasant, friendly manner.

Compensation

  • The Resort Host is provided living accommodations in cabin #8 with a compensation value of $2,500 per month. An occupancy agreement accompanies employment. Applicants will need to have another source of income such as retirement or be able to work from home.
  • Cabin #8 paid utilities include water, garbage and internet.
  • The Host has two days off per week with coverage on days off; coverage likely by phone by HOA manager or SVR. Scheduled hours and days off to be agreed on by Manager and Host, likely Monday & Tuesday of each week.
  • IRS mileage rate reimbursement for use of personal vehicle for MRR Business only.

Performance Review:

Performance review will be performed biannually by the HOA Manager.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $19.43 - $20.50 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 30 per week
