Job Overview
We are seeking a strategic, creative, and experienced Director of Interior Design to lead healthcare-focused interior design projects for a nationally recognized architecture and design firm. This role will oversee the development and execution of thoughtful, patient-centered design solutions for hospitals, clinics, and specialty healthcare environments.
As Director, you will be responsible for creative leadership, project management, team development, and client engagement—playing a key role in shaping the future of healthcare environments that promote healing and wellness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide design leadership for interior design projects across a portfolio of healthcare facilities.
- Oversee and mentor a team of interior designers, ensuring alignment with project goals and design excellence.
- Lead space planning, FF&E selection, finishes, and specifications to meet client and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to develop cohesive project solutions.
- Maintain close communication with clients, presenting concepts and managing expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with healthcare design codes and best practices.
- Drive innovation and keep up with trends in healthcare design, materials, and evidence-based design strategies.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design or a related field.
- 10 years of interior design experience, including 5 years focused on healthcare projects.
- Strong portfolio of healthcare interiors (hospitals, outpatient, behavioral health, clinics).
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Proficient in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and other design-related software.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with healthcare-specific codes and guidelines (e.g., FGI, ADA).
Preferred Qualifications:
- NCIDQ Certification (or eligible to obtain).
- Knowledge of Lean Design, WELL Building Standards, and Evidence-Based Design.
- Experience working on multi-site or national healthcare projects.
- Ability to travel as needed for project and client meetings (if applicable).
