About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Power Electronics Engineer / Electrical Engineer with a strong background in power supply design to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have 10 years of experience in power electronics design, specializing in AC-DC power supplies and DC-DC converters. This role requires hands-on expertise in Altium for schematic capture and PCB layout and experience working within the defense and aerospace industries.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-efficiency AC-DC and DC-DC power converters for defense and aerospace applications.
- Lead circuit design, simulation, and validation of power electronics systems, ensuring compliance with military and aerospace standards.
- Perform hands-on PCB design using Altium, including schematic capture, layout, and design review for manufacturability and performance optimization.
- Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and validation of power electronics systems, including EMI/EMC compliance and thermal management considerations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, firmware, and systems engineering teams to optimize power electronics designs.
- Work with manufacturing teams to transition designs into production, ensuring reliability and repeatability.
- Provide technical leadership in power electronics innovation, efficiency improvements, and product lifecycle development.
Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in power electronics design with a focus on AC-DC power supplies and DC-DC converters.
- Expertise in Altium for schematic capture, PCB layout, and circuit analysis.
- Strong knowledge of power topologies (flyback, forward, buck, boost, LLC, etc.) and magnetic component selection.
- Experience with high-reliability designs, thermal management, and EMI/EMC mitigation techniques.
- Proficiency in circuit simulation tools (SPICE, LTSpice, PLECS, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with prototype development, debugging, and testing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the defense and aerospace industries, with a solid understanding of military/aerospace standards (MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461, DO-160, etc.).
