Assistant Chef

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food service management and kitchen operations, with the ability to assist in menu planning and food production using ingredients grown here on the farm and sorced locally. This role is essential in maintaining the high standards of our farm cafe while ensuring a smooth workflow and positive eating experiences for our customers.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in menu planning and development, ensuring creativity and seasonal relevance.
• Support daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes.
• Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene practices within the kitchen.
• Help manage inventory control and ensure proper stock levels are maintained.
• Participate in inventory management by tracking supplies and placing orders as needed.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow during service hours.
• Assist in training new kitchen staff on cooking techniques and kitchen protocols.
• Contribute to maintaining cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area.

Experience

• Previous experience in a restaurant, food service environment, and / or farm-to-table environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of menu planning, food production, and kitchen management practices.
• Familiarity with inventory management systems and procedures.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• A passion for culinary arts and willingness to learn new techniques!
