POSITION SUMMARY
Responsibilities include personnel management, strategic equipment specification, process requirements organization, throughput for on-time delivery, and quality of products and assigned departments. Directs and coordinates all activities of assigned departments by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
· Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
· Obtains production requirements from production control daily, and uses this information to schedule screening, Press Ops, and Assembly support and screening equipment to satisfy these needs to keep the production schedule on-time.
· Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
· Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
· Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.
· Oversees training of both new and existing employees in an effort to develop a high level of skill, job proficiency, and excellent quality level.
· Measures the quality and output of all departmental personnel against their respective standards and communicates this information to each employee.
· Ensures that all materials are available to support the production schedule to ensure both a smooth production flow and minimal downtime.
· Keeps abreast of industry technical developments by attending technical conferences, attending trade shows, and reading industry publications for the purpose of introducing appropriate technology to the company to improve our products and/or reduce costs.
· Participates in facility planning function for the purpose of increasing capacity, improving quality, increasing productivity, or introducing new technology. Consults with suppliers to improve technical products and processes within the screen printing department to minimize downtime and processing problems.
Handles all department hiring and termination via the Human Resources Department and established procedures
Handles grievances of department employees and maintains open communications and good morale within the department.
· Interfaces with Sales, Engineering, and Quality Assurance as necessary to resolve problems and ensure quality/workmanship standards have been met prior to releasing product from screening. This process involves generating formal requests to document and approve all
changes
· Participates in scheduled production meetings as needed to provide Production Control with job status updates, completion dates, processing problems, and plans for satisfying production schedule.
· Responsible for departmental safety program. Follows standard safety procedures, and uses all approved safety devices and equipment. May be required to handle hazardous waste. Is required to participate in hazardous material training annually.
· Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
· Performing other work-related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
· Knowledge of the following quality standards: ISO9001 & AS9100
· Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university. plus two to four years related experience as a manufacturing manager. or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
· Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
· Previous management experience required.
