Overview: The Capacity Manager is responsible for maintaining a carrier base for NFI’s third-party or fourth-party transportation services as well as developing newer employee’s ability to successfully solicit carriers for capacity. Responsibilities:

- Negotiate network rates, spot rates, and capacity with carriers driving revenue growth by using industry knowledge and market pricing to leverage better pricing with carrier base.
- Work with new employees as operations people for their business in an effort to train and develop them for future positions in a similar role.
- Reinforce the requirements associated with the parameters for an acceptable carrier within NFI’s standard carrier qualifications and uphold all that entails.
- Work with logistics brokers to understand the capabilities of the carrier capacity across multiple modes (van, flatbed, reefer) and the pricing associated with each.
- Deploy RFP to carriers, audit responses, analyze, and negotiate/follow up with carrier selection.
- Be prepared to meet with carriers to focus on continuing needs as well as to better understand the synergy with NFI Brokerage.
- Monitor market requirements by lane and capacity demand vs. supply utilizing the systems and tools provided to acquire this knowledge.
- Use system tools and effective communication methods (E-mail, phone, fax) to identify and secure Carrier partners and capacity in specific market areas.
- Effectively solicit and qualify carriers into the NFI Brokerage network.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 5-7 years of applicable transportation/logistics experience or recent college grad with Supply Chain / Logistics major.
- Self-motivated, sales and customer service orientation.
- Strong negotiation and relationship building skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Well organized with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Outlook, Word and Excel)
- Familiarity with DOT regulations (Hours of Service, cargo claims, etc.) helpful
- Time management skills.
- Professional demeanor and strong work ethic.

- Ability and availability to work extended hours, including nights, weekends and holidays as required by the needs of our external clients.
