Forklift Operator II Job Description
The Forklift Operator II is responsible for operating material handling equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. The operator must ensure the safe and efficient operation of the forklift and perform order filler or order checker duties as needed.
This role requires operating multiple types of forklift equipment and working in a rack warehouse environment. The operator needs to be able to operate sit-down/standup, clamp, cherry, and reach equipment. A forklift certification on at least 3 pieces of equipment is required.
Responsibilities:
- Material Handling: Stacks and stores merchandise in designated areas using a sit-down/standup, clamp, cherry, and/or reach equipment, with 50% of their service time spent on these tasks.
- Unload Shipments: Unloads inbound shipments safely and moves product to storage locations.
- Pull and Prepare Products: Pulls and prepares products for shipment.
- Loading and Shipping: Ensures that the exact number and type of product is loaded and shipped.
- Picking Duties: Performs picking duties in an efficient manner meeting customer service standards.
- Product Movement: Moves product from staging and/or storage areas into trailers.
- Safe Equipment Operation: Operates all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.
- Record Keeping: Maintains appropriate records and reports to guarantee inventory control and security.
- Inventories: Assists in physical inventories.
- Stock Rotation: Ensures proper stock rotation.
- Cycle Counts: Conducts cycle counts as requested.
- Technical Skills: Must have Excel knowledge plus general computer knowledge.
- Basics Safety Understanding: Basic safety understanding in operating equipment.
- Safety Reporting: Responsible for reporting safety concerns to management in a timely manner.
- Inventory Discrepancies: Report inventory discrepancies to inventory control team and assists in resolution.
- Equipment Inspection: Must be able to complete inspection form prior to operating equipment.
- RF Scanning: Must be able to use RF scanning equipment to ensure accuracy of inventory.
Work Schedule: Tues-Sat, 6am-2pm
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- Experience: At least 1 year forklift experience and/or using warehouse distribution equipment.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours. Must be able to lift and/or pull 50 lbs without restriction.
- Environmental Conditions: Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head. Walking in the DC and around area with great frequency, facilities are over a quarter mile in length.
- Flexibility: Should be able to work in environments with variable noise levels, lighting conditions, and temperature variation and access all areas of the building without limitations.
- Availability: Ability and availability to work irregular or extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Soft Skills: Must have attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and basic math skills.
Compensation and Benefits: We offer a competitive hourly rate of $19.25 per hour. NFI Industries considers applicants' qualifications, experience, education, geographic location when determining a starting rate of pay.
