What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parts Manager position at NFI Industries?
Overview :
The Corporate Parts Manager is responsible for running and efficient parts program. They will accomplish objectives through the use of proper purchasing procedures, inventory control, security, pricing and elimination of obsolete. The Corporate Parts Manager is responsible to populate the system with the correct part numbers for successful fleet operations, choosing long term quality parts from the most cost effective purchasing locations. He / she provides leadership to the facilities and manages performance to achieve a range of inventory required to operate a successful business and ensures customer uptime. The Parts Manager must be an advisor to the local facility.
Core objective is to turn parts department from a reactionary order- taking environment creating unnecessary downtime to a proactive, just in time stock, supplying the needs of the shop based on number and types of vehicles operated in the facility.
Responsibilities :
- Work with the Service Manager to ensure a timely turnaround of parts needed for internal jobs.
- Attend manager's meetings
- Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations that may affect parts sales
- Monitor the performance of all parts purchasing
- Provide technical assistance to parts employees
- Handle customer complaints immediately and according to the company guidelines
- Monitor and adjust inventory to minimize obsolescence
- Identify, create, recommend, develop, then execute programs to support the focus of the core objective of the department
- Prepare effective spare parts lists for facilities balancing inventory and pricing to develop business
- Maintain an inventory to match the requirements of the company and its customers.
- Responsible for inventory maintenance, including movement of obsolete parts
- Observe any laws and regulations that may affect parts purchasing
- Create reference manuals to ensure appropriate procedures are followed
- Align department with the overall strategic goals of the company
- Participate in and perform regular duties as part of the Management team, such as deliver performance reviews, manage department for results, deliver positive communication to departmental team on corporate decisions and directives that may not at times be favorable, attend appropriate meetings, collaborate on interdepartmental initiatives, etc.
