What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Program Director position at NFI Massachusetts, Inc.?
The Safe Harbor program serves young adults between the ages of 18-22 who are aging out of the DCF system of care. Safe Harbor places young adults in their own community apartments, with the ultimate goal of helping them to secure permanent, long-term housing.
The Assistant Program Director serves as a member of the administrative team, participates in the program on call rotation, and works closely with The Transitional Aged Youth Project Director around daily operations functions of the program. The Assistant Program Director is responsible for overseeing a half caseload and providing direct case management support to young adults.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist Project Director in managing the central intake process for referrals, active cases and discharges.
- Support Project Director with staff training, supervision and oversight of day-to-day operations.
- Act as a liaison to funding agencies and outside collaterals; attend stakeholder meetings, as needed.
- Ensure the program is aligned with agency mission, vision, and values, and support all agency and funding source initiatives.
- Act as the Safety Coordinator for The Transitional Aged Youth Programs.
- Participate in program on call.
- Carry a caseload of up to 4 young adults and facilitate weekly meetings in their homes to ensure they are maintaining basic adult living standards.
- Facilitate and/or participate in treatment meetings as appropriate.
- Advocate for the young adults’ needs both within the program and with external agencies
- Help identify young adults’ social and recreational needs and help develop or strengthen daily living skills such as self-care/wellness, money management, public transportation and navigating community resources.
- Help young adults identify post-secondary goals such as job training and/or college readiness.
- Obtain resources for post-secondary options and build relationships with potential employers in the community.
- Complete documentation as defined by the program contract (i.e. assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, treatment reviews).
- Perform all duties in accordance with the agency’s policies and procedures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, human services or other related area of study and at least 3 years of experience working with at-risk-youth/young adults.
- Experience working with Department of Children & Families.
- Excellent communication, organization and writing skills.
- High energy level, superior interpersonal skills and ability to function in a team atmosphere.
- Flexible schedule with on call responsibilities.
- Valid driver’s license as travel is required.
Salary: $58,000/annually
Hours: 40 hours/week (80 hrs in pay period)

Salary : $2,500 - $58,000
