NFI North’s Newport Certified Residential Program (CRP) is seeking compassionate, highly skilled, and reliable Personal Care Assistants (PCA) to serve as part of our (CRP) teams. The PCA provides an integrated medically oriented service model through the oversight and support of the Program Registered Nurse while offering the non-medical services of Personal Care through a participant directed model. In this demanding but highly rewarding role, you will work with our participants to support their physical and mental health needs in their everyday lives so they can remain in the CRP setting. As a PCA you will focus on helping them with basic personal hygiene and domestic tasks as needed, according to their requirements and limitations. You will provide compassionate care and assistance and document participants’ progress, either written, electronically or verbally, to help ensure their overall wellbeing.
The CRP sites are (2) five bed Residential Treatment Programs that specialize in providing the supported housing services to individuals transitioning from and/or awaiting admission to a higher level of care. These treatment sites are known to have a progressive reputation of providing comprehensive clinical, nursing, medical, case management services and life skills to adults living with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) or Serious and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) or complex medical needs. The participants residing in these treatment facilities are seeking independent home-like living.
Responsibilities: Provide basic domestic services (i.e. meal prep, laundry, light housework). Assist with mobility issues, helping participants get in and out of bed, wheelchair, etc. Remind client to take medications. Help with personal hygiene (i.e. brushing teeth, toileting, bathing), changing bed linens regularly assisting with all daily activities, based on participants’ limitations and needs. Provide a caring and positive presence for the participants. Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED, advanced degree or credits preferred, or combination of education and/or experience. Minimum one year of experience working in a healthcare setting. High energy level, superior interpersonal skills and ability to function in a team atmosphere.
