Duties
- Prepare and present a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, using fresh ingredients.
- Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper storage of ingredients.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to create innovative menu items that reflect current trends in sushi cuisine.
- Assist in menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
- Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs to management for timely replenishment.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and best practices.
- Provide exceptional customer service by engaging with guests regarding menu options and dietary preferences.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role within a restaurant or catering environment.
- Strong knowledge of food service operations, including food preparation techniques and kitchen management.
- Proficiency in knife skills and familiarity with various sushi-making tools and equipment.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team setting.
- Creativity in menu planning with an understanding of dietary needs and preferences.
- A culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred but not required.
