Job Description:
The Medication Technician will provide direct and indirect patient care activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Administer medications to residents in a safe, accurate, and timely manner
- Provide physical and psychosocial care to all residents, promoting dignity, choice, and individuality
Responsibilities include:
- Understanding and practicing universal precautions with all patients
- Performing tasks/procedures included on assignment or reporting to the charge nurse any tasks not completed
- Assisting in preparation for admission of patients
- Accompanying patients in admission, transfer, and discharge procedures
- Providing post-mortem care
- Providing morning care, including bed bath, oral hygiene, combing hair, back care, dressing patients, changing bed linen, cleaning overbed tables, straightening rooms, and other general care as necessary throughout the day
- Providing evening care, including hand/face washing as needed, oral hygiene, special skin care, freshening linen, cleaning overbed tables, straightening rooms, and other general care as necessary
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or currently enrolled in a nursing aide training program
- Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
