A key part of this role is carrying out home visits, and it is crucial that the postholder is able to travel independently across the county as public transport is very limited.

- Diagnose and formulate management plans in complex cases, including decisions on prescribing in pregnancy and breastfeeding in women who plan a pregnancy.
- Provide prescribing advice on psychotropic medication in pregnancy and breastfeeding as well as women planning a pregnancy to general psychiatry, maternity, and primary care services.
