Marketing & Design Specialist (Full-Time, Hybrid)
NIA seeks a Marketing & Design Specialist to generate positive social media content, promote events, document programming, and expand the organization's visibility. The primary responsibilities for this job will include designing fliers and promotional materials, generating content for weekly social media updates and the monthly newsletter, making website updates, and creating materials for fundraising campaigns. The Marketing & Design Specialist will also be responsible for attending and photographing various Brooklyn-based events throughout the year to ensure we have the content needed to properly document and highlight program successes. This is a hybrid-work position, which requires 2-3 days per week on location in Brooklyn, NY.
The ideal candidate must be an excellent designer, familiar with the Adobe suite, including Photoshop and InDesign. They should be a strong writer, who is comfortable working within the organization's collaborative approach to generating content. It is our goal that they develop a deep understanding of the organization's mission, vision, history, and current work. They must also be capable of targeting communications, and comfortable tailoring writing for a specific audience.
The Marketing & Design Specialist is a successful professional with experience developing visual and written content, managing social media accounts, and designing print material. They will be responsible for directly handling all marketing-related projects and meeting deadlines for promotions across various departments. Working collaboratively with the Director of Development & Communications and the NIA's senior leadership, the Marketing & Design Specialist will provide input for communications planning, including message development, story placement, website maintenance and external communications strategy. The Marketing & Design Specialist will also act as a primary point of contact, responding to basic external inquiries and representing NIA Community Services Network. This position reports to the Director of Development & Communications.
Responsibilities
- Create content for and track audience engagement with social media profiles, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn
- Responsible for collaborating on monthly newsletter creation and distribution, which will include collecting story ideas, photographs, and writing articles
- Design flyers for all school-based programs and organization events
- Develop new stories, press releases, and other written materials
- Create promotional materials to attract new school partners, funders, and corporate sponsors; proofread and edit promotional materials
- Manage organization contacts; draft and distribute informational and marketing emails; promote upcoming events
- Develop content updates to the organization's website
- Keep abreast of and promote all NIA activities, including school-based programming, events, and community initiatives
- Photograph events when needed

Requirements
- Two to three years of Design/Promotions/Marketing/Social Media experience (be prepared to present a portfolio of work)
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Design, Communications, or a related field
- Skilled at using programs available in the Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and InDesign
- Capable of photo editing and basic video editing
- Website design and management (knowledge of Squarespace required)
- Familiarity with MailChimp or other email marketing platform
- A highly-collaborative spirit and positive approach to new challenges
- Ability to synthesize and summarize information into engaging, well-written narratives for a variety of audiences across multiple media channels
- Knowledge of development tools, such as MobileCause and Kindful are a plus
- Ability and willingness to photograph events (including occasional evenings/weekends)
This is a full-time position, with a salary range of $55,000 - $60,000 commensurate with experience, plus benefits.
