Position Summary:
The Greenhouse Cashier is responsible for cashing out customers of Niagara Produce. The greenhouse cashier position assists customers in finalizing their purchases and ensures customers provide payment for goods purchased. In addition, Cashiers are also responsible for providing excellent customer service, assisting customers in their shopping experience, maintaining a friendly demeanor, ensuring balanced cash registers at all times, and assisting in other cashier- related areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide customer service by greeting and assisting customers, and responding to customer inquires and complaints. Receive payment from customers by cash, credit cards, gift cards, or EBT cards. Use cash registers, and calculate to ring up items that customers buy. Issue Receipts, refunds, or change due to customers; count back change without using a calculator. Bag groceries in appropriate order to avoid food damage and place in carts. Assist customers by providing information and resolving complaints. Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas and complete other general cleaning duties such as mopping and sweeping floors, emptying trash cans, washing counters, cleaning bathroom. Answer incoming calls and answer customer questions or direct to appropriate department. Monitor stock of goods and reduce price of perishable items as necessary. Provide assistance or direction to other cashier workers. Perform any other duty as requested by your supervisor.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 16 years old. Must have excellent mathematical/ computational skills. Excellent interpersonal/human relations skills. Ability to memorize prices.
Physical Requirements:
Standing for prolonged periods of time. Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your hands and arms, such as packaging/ bagging purchases goods, lifting groceries, etc. The ability to quickly move your hands, arranging objects, such as groceries or merchandise. Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
