JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Vice President for International Relations and The Brennan Center, the Assistant Director for International Student Services/DSO and Education Abroad, is responsible for the processing of I-20 documents, SEVIS reporting, and assisting the PDSO in keeping the university compliant. Added responsibility includes advising and marketing education abroad programs at NU.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
DSO/International Student Services:
- Serve as point of contact for international students with Certificate of Eligibility Form I-20 inquiries in-person, via phone, and email.
- Collect and coordinate undergraduate and graduate, and exchange Certificate of Eligibility Form I-20 application documentation.
- Issue Certificate of Eligibility Form I-20 to facilitate the entrance of international students in accordance with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and university policies.
- Advise international students on F1 student visa regulations and processes to include employment, full-time enrollment, travel, and change of status.
- Issuance of letters for students re: SSA, travel, etc.
- Assist with completion of semesterly international check-in and SEVIS registration by deadline.
- Assist international students with filing appropriate paperwork with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Provide support and guidance to international students undergoing immigration issues.
- Keep current with DHS and USCIS F-1 student visa regulations and procedures.
- Manage Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) to record accurate documentation, ensuring completeness and accuracy in accordance with US visa regulations to comply with SEVIS reporting guidelines.
- Collaborate with various academic departments on campus to streamline enrollment process for international students, as well as other departmental related matters.
- Present at International Student Orientation each semester with other department members.
- Organize OPT/CPT sessions, information sessions, and faculty advocacy presentations.
- Assist with generating reports for Census, SEVIS, semesterly reporting, enrollment, and student status.
Education Abroad
- Advise students on how to fit a study abroad experience into their degree program.
- Manage relationships with affiliate partners to offer a variety of student study abroad opportunities.
- Promote information sessions, study abroad fairs, social events, and marketing campaigns, and maintain a social media presence.
- Conduct a pre-departure orientation for study abroad trips.
- Assist students with the application process, visa process if needed, and all other details pertaining to preparation to go abroad.
- Support faculty-led study abroad programs with their planning and budget.
General
- Monitor the departmental budget.
- Respond to and resolve student/parent/faculty/resident director's concerns and emergencies overseas.
- Supervise student abroad student volunteers and support staff with outreach, engagement, recruitment, and building student abroad awareness across campus.
- Assist Vice President for International Relations with various projects as needed.
- Perform other job-related duties as needed.
Salary : $45,000 - $54,000
