The Mechanical Engineer will work closely with customers, NPI & Manufacturing Engineering groups. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, organizational, project management and multi-tasking skills, including proactive problem solving. As part of the NPI Engineering, our team will be expected to offer suggestions and participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives related to design and manufacturing process. Other development tasks may be added to responsibilities as needed.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop product specifications with input from customer and internal team.
- Part and assembly design using 3D modeling. Includes concept to final design for production.
- Design analysis using simulation techniques such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Communicate with internal team and customers by creating presentation documents and conducting meetings.
- Utilize support engineering personnel to create detailed documentation (drawings, process flow diagrams, etc.)
- Develop manufacturing method and communicate to production and manufacturing engineering.
- Participate in component and supplier selection.
- Participate in design and drawing review process.
- Create bill of materials (BOM).
- Cost product by collecting manufacturing costs from suppliers and internal production departments
Desired Skills;
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 3 years of experience: Experience with heater, temperature sensors and RF products is a plus
- Intermediate level competency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook)
- Knowledge of mechanics, thermodynamics, and fluids principles
- 3D modeling and drawing creation using Inventor, Solidworks or equivalent
- Understands Finite Element Analysis (FEA) in areas of mechanical, heat transfer and fluid flow.
- Familiar with part fabrication methods such as machining, sheet metal cutting and bending, welding etc.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Must be able to handle a fast-paced working environment, changing priorities and high volume of workload
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be in a stationary position; move within the facilities, constantly operate computer equipment, tools, and machines, inspect surroundings and equipment, occasionally ascends/descends a ladder, communicate with others, detect odors, and transport equipment up to 30 pounds
