Malheur Memorial Physician/PA/NP (Provider)

Malheur Memorial Health Clinic, an RHC in Nyssa, Oregon, is hiring a Physician/PA/NP (Provider) who with time, will transition into the Medical Director role. We are a busy, independent family practice with a mix of payers including Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, cash pay patients, and sliding scale. Our highly experienced staff is eager for a strong leader to keep all operations moving along and help us expand our services to the surrounding communities.

Position Summary:

To provide clinical evaluation and management of patients in accordance with industry standards of care as well as clinical policies and procedures. The providers answer to the Clinic Manager in administrative issues, to the Medical Director on medical matters, and the Board of Directors on legal matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect a thorough clinical history on patients’ medical conditions.
  • Perform complete and professional examinations as deemed necessary by patient’s clinical picture.
  • Determine appropriate care plans.
  • Order pertinent studies, lab work, procedures, injections and prescribe medications as part of the overall care plan.
  • Document all pertinent data in patient’s chart notes and medical file in a timely manner (ideally within 24 hours of the visit, and no longer than 48 hours later).
  • Research and apply appropriate diagnosis, procedure and E/M codes for every encounter.
  • Initiate timely referrals to specialists or other providers as necessary.
  • Provide verbal and/or written education to patients on their medical conditions; refer to 3rd party resources or classes as appropriate.
  • Provide guidance and education to clinical staff as needed.
  • Make all chart notes available and route a minimum of 10% of chart notes to supervising physician to review, accept, consider and be willing to incorporate any feedback and suggestions as appropriate.
  • Purse CME opportunities and other training that would most benefit patient care and service.
  • Suture wounds, prescribes, administers, and dispenses drugs in accordance with federal and state laws and standards of practice.
  • Provides instructions and guidance and counseling regarding medical care matters to patients and their families.
  • Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation, as requested.
  • Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
  • Monitors patients and provides continuity of care between visits.
  • Provides input in hiring, disciplinary action, and termination of clinical personnel.
  • Reviews nursing protocols.
  • Works with the Clinic Manger in providing clear medical record documentation.
  • Maintains a cooperative attitude with clinical personnel, physicians, and patients, and families (as needed) to enhance the continuity of care and a positive working environment.
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings.
  • Exercises utmost diplomacy and tact to provide excellent customer service for patients; practices confidentiality and privacy protocols in accordance to Clinic policies and HIPAA requirements.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Medical School, PA or NP program.
  • Current National/State licensure, unencumbered and unrestricted.
  • Current DEA, current CPR and other lifesaving certificates, as necessary.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
  • Ability to interact positively with other staff members.
  • Working knowledge of EMRs.

Requirements: Skills & Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years of management experience in any field. Emphasis in medical field management strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of clerical/administrative experience in a medical office.
  • Multi-tasking, flexibility, telephone skills, customer service with cheerful attitude, time management, organization, attention to detail, scheduling, word processing/typing proficiency, professionalism.
  • Bilingual written/speaking skills in Spanish are a strong benefit.
