Senior Accountant for public accounting firm with significant tax and accounting background.
Position Summary
The Senior Accountant will manage a variety of tax, accounting and other assignments as designated by the Manager. At this level, the Senior Accountant should function with minimal supervision and increased focus is placed on supervising and mentoring Staff, independent problem solving, and strengthening client relationships
Essential Functions:
• Work as an effective team member to complete project assignments and engagement tasks.
• Identify clients' needs and opportunities
• Assist in training and mentoring junior staff
• Tax functions
o Preparation of Forms 1040, 1041, 1120, 1120S, 1065, and various payroll and reporting requirements
o Comfortable with tax research
o Compile financial statements for small and midsized businesses with minimum supervision o Reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts and analyzing financial statements as a
whole
• Proficiency in the use of firm standard software such as QuickBooks, Sage, CCH ProSytems FX, CCH Fixed Assets, Engagement (or equivalents)
• Complete multiple assignments in a timely manner
Qualifications:
• Minimum of a Bachelor degree in Accounting (Master degree in Accounting preferred)
• Eligible to become certified public accountant or licensed CPA preferred
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of public accounting experience, more is a plus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Advanced knowledge of accounting and tax regulations and principles
• Excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills
• Effectively coach, motivate and direct assistants
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team
