Overview
Nicholson Corporation, a diversified and growing Commercial Contractor, seeks an experienced Accountant for immediate full-time hire, reporting in-person at our Whitehouse Station, NJ location.
This position is responsible for the oversight and day-to-day accounting of new and existing commercial construction contracts from job set-up through close out.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years’ experience working as an accountant for a union-based commercial contractor or GC, and a proven record of success managing multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
Responsibilities
· Set up new jobs including intake of new job information, systems entries, and circulation of GC contracts for review, approval, and execution.
· Request and enter job budgets and SOV’s into accounting system.
· Request and submit COIs and manage OCIP/CCIP enrollments and audits per contract requirements.
· Responsible for all Bonding requests from the Estimating Team (Bids) and GCs at job start.
· Track, review, and process GC Change Orders
· Prepare monthly AIA invoices, lien waivers, and related compliance documents in various formats for submission to GCs on numerous projects.
· Communicate consistently and effectively with GCs and subcontractors to reconcile pay applications to original contracts, change orders, and pending change orders.
· Monthly review of receivables with Project Managers, receivables follow up and collections.
· Monitor gross profit and underbilling’s on monthly and job-to-date basis.
· Review monthly subcontractor payment applications for accuracy and prepare for review/approval by PM and processing by AP team.
· Subcontractor – OCIP.CCIP enrollment and monitoring of Certified payroll and monthly compliance reporting
· Work with Project management team on job close-outs, including reconciliation of committed costs and submission of final paperwork as required by contract.
· Ad Hoc projects, analysis, schedules & reports as needed.
Qualifications
· 3 years’ relevant experience in construction accounting
· High proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), Adobe, and internet-based applications
· Detail-oriented, organized, and dependable professional with strong work ethic.
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business is required.
· Foundation or SAGE experience a plus, as is familiarity with Textura or Procore

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
