We are seeking a Construction Inspector to work on-site at Vandenberg Space Force Base in Lompoc, California. Working at this location is a requirement for the job.
Main Responsibilities
This position is responsible for DoD Title II Quality Assurance services in addition to other contract management and administrative tasks. Services include quality assurance oversight during construction of one or more facility and/or infrastructure projects. Specific responsibilities include:
- Monitoring progress and reporting on key metrics and problem areas.
- Preparing and cataloging digital photo documentation of construction work in progress.
- Participating in project meetings and teleconferences.
- Performing inspections to ensure work by the construction contractor meets contract requirements.
- Evaluating contractor progress payments.
- Maintaining correspondence, submittals, shop drawings, reports, payments, contract changes, etc.
- Assisting in the resolution of technical issues and site conditions.
- Performing site inspections and providing daily progress details as part of weekly reports.
- Documenting construction defects and omissions as they occur and track progress through resolution.
- Technical expertise to perform payment inspections and validation of progress.
Qualifications
- A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or applicable field related to the overall project tasking.
- No less than five (5) years of experience in construction practices, procedures, and testing, to include three (3) years of quality control management of DoD construction projects
- Fifteen (15) years of experience as a construction inspector may be substituted for a degree.
- Certified completion of a professionally accredited Quality Control Management Course
- Familiar with OSHA standards related to construction
- Good oral and written communication skills
- MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), PowerPoint; familiarity and working knowledge of AutoCAD, or other software is also a plus.
- Must be organized, motivated and detail oriented.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Able to drive traverse on uneven surfaces in a pickup truck.
- Work outdoors under the full range of weather conditions typically experienced throughout all seasons of the year.
- Must pass pre-employment drug test and federal government background check to gain access to DOD installations.
- Must be eligible to work legally in the US.
- Candidate must possess a valid driver's license, in conjunction with successfully passing the company MVR requirements.
Additional Qualifications:
The following are preferred but not a disqualifier for the position:
- Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures related to Title II inspection
- CPR Certified
- First Aid Certified
- OSHA 10/30 training
- 40 hour EM 385-1-1 training
