The Zoning Specialist plays a critical role in promoting orderly development in Nicollet County by developing, administering, and enforcing our zoning ordinance. Responsibilities include reviewing maps, zoning permit requests, and job sites. This position also interprets zoning policies, practices, and regulations for members of the public and other department staff.

DUTY FREQUENCY BAND / GRADE Reviews maps, zoning permit requests, and job sites to ensure compliance with the Zoning Ordinance.

Weekly

55�Interprets zoning policies, practices, and regulations for the public and staff. Responds to inquiries on zoning-related matters.

Daily

15�Prepares a variety of zoning-related documents. Prepares and facilitates presentations to the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Board of Adjustment.

15�Works with County residents to coordinate permit requirements with other areas in Public and Property Services.

In order to be considered for this position, we require a bachelor's degree in urban or regional planning or a related field and 2 years of planning experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position. A valid driver's license is required.
