What are the responsibilities and job description for the OSP Fielder I position at Niels Fugal Sons Company?
Overview
We are currently located in Pleasant Grove, but will be moving to Salem at the start/middle of 2025.
A successful OSP Fielder II shall support engineering services through the highly detailed collection of information from the job site to ensure engineering compliance with company/client requirements. At a minimum, the position requires a detailed working knowledge of Outside Plant fiber and copper networks; responsible for identifying the existing field design and layout of OSP telecommunications network to include aerial, buried, and underground fiber network design and layout, underground conduit, manhole/handhole, building entrance, and riser facilities.

Qualifications
To be considered for this position, a candidate must possess the ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for long periods, while using repetitive and/or fine hand movements. Work is performed outside in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and precipitation, and in rugged terrain such as back easements, rural locations and at active construction sites. Noise level can range from moderate to loud and from intermediate to constant. There may also be extensive driving and/or long periods away from the home location.

Essential Functions
In order to perform this job, you must demonstrate, either by training or experience:
- The ability to capture accurate measurements of attachment heights, span distances, & utility structures
- Detail oriented, well organized, and effective in handling field data and map/layout information
- Excellent manual dexterity, utilization of tools such as measuring wheels, height sticks, pull finders, & rangefinder
- The ability to read and understand highway/road prints and identify conflicts with outside plant facilities
- The ability to perform independently with minimal supervision, exercising latitude to achieve daily objectives
- The ability to identify any potential issues with proposed routes and solve problems quickly
- Identify conflicts with existing OSP, select routing of lines and equipment required for projects
- Completion of engineering tasks in support of an assigned department/project.
- Communicate with employees, contractors, vendors, and/or customers to assist assigned department/project.
- Completion of daily production reports to document work performed.
- Receive, organize, file, and maintain documents and/or data as well as read, interpret, input, and analyze data.
- Additional Duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field or 2 years of related work experience.
- Experienced in the use of hardware and software (PCs, Tablets, IKE, ArcMap, Ocalc Pro, CAD, ArcGIS, Google, etc.)
- Experienced in assigned function (Drafting, Designing, Make Ready, Geographic Information Systems, etc.)
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen, background, and motor vehicle record check.
