What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality - Quality Technician position at nifco?
Job Summary: Responsible for handling the day to day production, floor quality functions as well as assisting a Quality/Process/Manufacturing Engineer with any specific requests/concerns. They will also be required to create and update the necessary quality documents.
Essential Functions:
Level I:
Perform product quality inspection utilizing quality standards, fixtures or gauges
Communicate internally/provide feedback to Line Associates, Team Leaders, Unit Managers, Quality, Process, Manufacturing, and Engineers to help determine root cause and improve process performance
Label and/or Re-pack containers
Transfer inventory both physically and in Oracle
Initiate containment activity
Ability to open, maintain and close NCR’s (Non-Conforming Reports)
Ability to understand and interpret variable & attribute data using statistical quality methods (graphs, charts, diagrams)
Report internal non-conformances on a daily and monthly basis
Ability to interpret Flow Diagram, PFMEA’s, Control Plans, PQS’s, & KQCP and recognize areas requiring attention
Ability to monitor previously set up sorts based on already developed sort criteria and verifies sort effectiveness
All other duties assigned
Level II:
All Essential Functions of Level I plus:
Create and update quality inspection standards, Quality alerts, Limit Samples based on information found internally or provided by and Engineer
Ability to make judgment calls to determine OK or NG parts
Ability to train operators to specific inspection standards that have developed
Ability to understand and complete a 5 Why Analysis in order to determine root cause and countermeasure of any quality issue which will improve part and process performance
Ability to create, understand, and interpret variable & attribute data in the form of graphs & charts to visually and verbally communicate the part of process results
Update quality standards to include parameters to be monitored
Ability to update Flow Diagrams, PFMEA’s, Control Plans, PQS’s, KQCP’s based on process changes/updates as required
Set-up and perform process and/or part audits
Perform Dock Audits of outgoing product
Verify Material Certification of Compliance (COA) to meet spec
Initiate Quality Reports (QR’s) to suppliers and communicate with the Suppliers designated contact
Obtain RMA from supplier and process vendor debits
Assist in meeting KPI targets and identify opportunities for KPI improvements
Perform internal and supplier counter measure verification as required
Create any additional reports and execute assigned tasks as required in a time effective manner
Education:
An Associate’s degree in a technical related field or equivalent on the job experience
Skills/Experience:
Level I:
0 – 2 years prior experience in Quality, preferably in an automotive setting
Proficient in math disciplines to solve mathematical equations use in applied statistics
Ability to interpret data, charts, and graphs
Proficient in the use of computer software packages, access databases, spreadsheets and word processing
Ability to work as part of a teams
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Familiar with the IATF16949 & ISO14001 standards
Behave in a positive manner that enhances the success of the company
Level II:
All Experience/Skills/Requirements of Level I plus:
2 year’s prior experience in Quality, preferably in an automotive setting
Basic understanding of Injection Molding and Nifco’s assembly process
Ability to handle multiple tasks with little supervision
Decision making skills required to judge part quality
Some travel may be required
Physical/Ergonomic Requirements:
Able to lift boxes up to 20 pounds
Able to work on foot for extended hours
