We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Pediatric Medical Assistant (MA) to join our dedicated team in providing exceptional care to young patients during shifts at our Pediatric Urgent Care. Excellent patient care skills and active participation in patient education are essential requirements for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Clinical Duties:
- Room patients, obtain vital signs, and record medical histories accurately.
- Assist physicians with examinations and procedures.
- Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the physician.
- Perform basic laboratory tests (e.g., rapid strep tests, urinalysis).
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment.
- Assist with wound care and dressing changes.
- Perform EKGs and other diagnostic tests as needed.
- Respond to patient emergencies and provide appropriate first aid.
- Patient Care and Education:
- Demonstrate a caring and empathetic approach to patients and families.
- Provide age-appropriate explanations and instructions to patients and their families regarding their care.
- Educate patients on illness prevention, health maintenance, and treatment plans.
- Answer patient questions and address concerns in a professional and friendly manner.
- Teamwork and Communication:
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other staff members.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
- Administrative Duties:
- Schedule appointments and answer phone calls as needed.
- Maintain patient records and update charts accurately.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience as a Pediatric Medical Assistant in an urgent care or similar setting is highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Excellent patient care skills and a genuine passion for working with children.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in taking vital signs, administering medications, and performing basic clinical procedures.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and electronic health records (EHR) systems.

- Flexibility to work night shifts, including weekends and holidays.
