Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Recreational Therapist to provide therapeutic recreational activities at a correctional facility in Vacaville, CA. This role demands a professional who is prepared to work in a challenging yet rewarding environment, offering therapeutic support and promoting mental and physical well-being through structured recreational activities for a diverse inmate population.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, and implement recreational therapy programs tailored to meet the needs and interests of inmates.
- Conduct assessments to determine inmates' physical, emotional, and social needs and interests.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to integrate recreational therapy into overall treatment plans.
- Lead group and individual recreational activities, including sports, arts and crafts, and other therapeutic activities.
- Maintain detailed and confidential records of participants' progress and program outcomes in compliance with legal, ethical, and facility standards.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss treatment strategies and inmate progress.
- Provide crisis intervention and support when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Current certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS).
- Proven experience as a Recreational Therapist, with a strong preference for candidates with experience in correctional facilities.
- Knowledge of therapeutic recreation principles, techniques, and equipment.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
