Electrical Engineering Technologist - Security Clearance Required

Nightwing is seeking a Senior Engineer to serve as an Electrical Engineering Technologist (EET) at a work center specializing in systems integration with an emphasis on RF communications. This position is located onsite in the Sterling, Virginia area. Responsibilities include the ability to troubleshoot RF equipment using industry standard test equipment. Understanding analog and digital electronics is crucial, as is the ability to analyze test data and characterization of RF and Microwave circuits.

Furthermore, this role is responsible for executing test plans, troubleshooting RF signal processing systems, and generating accurate test data intended for internal and external customer use. The Senior Engineer must be able to set up standard or automated test equipment to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and live tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production assemblies. Analyze test results and repair or adjust assemblies according to analysis. The successful candidate must also have skills to recommend corrections and improvements to test procedures to simplify testing and / or assembly processes and to perform preventative maintenance.

Important soft skills include having knowledge of RF safety equipment and protocols, ESD training and the ability to work with a team.

Furthermore, the candidate must be a self-starter comfortable with customers and possess the ability to multi-task across multiple projects, adapt to rapidly changing circumstances, effectively network, and communicate at all levels of the organization to ensure successful completion of projects in support of aggressive schedules.

Clearance Requirement : Active TS / SCI clearance willing to upgrade to poly

Required Skills :

• Understanding of RF theory, wireless / SIGINT technologies, microwave principles and system / subsystem-level analysis.
• working knowledge of setting up RF signal source generators for RF test signals, including custom signal types
• Knowledge of RF frequency spectrum and modern communication infrastructures
• Experienced in using RF signal analyzers, network analyzers for analog RF and troubleshooting RF components.
• Demonstrate minimum 4 years of experience as an RF electrical technician performing component level Unit Testing.
• Experienced with documentation of issues, problems, and concerns in JIRA or similar tracking database
• Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite :
• MS Word : Creating, editing, and marking up of MS Word document templates and forms
• MS Excel to graph .csv files to plot and analyze collected data to be incorporated in test reports
• Demonstrated skills in writing / following procedures testing at the component level using prescribed test procedures.
• Ability to read and understand engineering diagrams, specifications and / or blueprints.
• Ability to understand designs for quality control, report findings, and recommend changes, when necessary.
• Demonstrate at least 2 years’ experience executing and following unit level test procedures and integration and validation of electronics and analyses of hardware designs.
• Must have good communications skills to follow instructions from engineers but also be able to articulate problems to engineers.
• Must be sufficiently independent to set objectives for own job area to meet project / assignments goals and schedules.
