Job Overview
The Manager, Application Engineering manages a team of application engineers providing engineering-to-order equipment proposals based on customer specifications. This position is responsible for the implementation of procedures, review of proposals, and training of staff.
Responsibilities
- Work with departments to ensure proposals submitted meet NCI requirements for delivery, documentation, testing and technical requirements.
- Work with Sales Directors and other sales personnel to ensure customers are provided required information.
- Communicate with customers to answer technical questions and respond to bid clarifications.
- Ensure on-time performance of submission of proposals.
- Provide support for marketing activities.
- Perform quoting work as required.
- Hire, lead, train and support application engineering team.
- Work with the Global Director, Application Engineering to ensure that the processes and tools are implemented and updated per the Global Application Engineering procedures.
- International and domestic travel to support customer meetings as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience is required.
- Experience with SolidWorks or similar software is preferred.
- 5 years’ progressively responsible leadership experience.
- Specific industry experience is strongly preferred.
Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise:
- Experience with customer relation management (CRM) software; SalesForce preferred.
- Advanced MS Office Suite.
- Ability to review proposals for compliance with technical specifications and pricing accuracy for engineered-to-order products.
- Skilled in time management, prioritizing and managing changing priorities.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Develop talent and share knowledge.
- Excellent customer service and communications skills.
Work Environmental and Physical Demands:
- In order to perform the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls.
- Job will generally be performed in an office environment, but may require travel to a Client's office, production facility or industrial/construction job site. Conditions will vary at each location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply.
