Grant Writer - Grant Specialist
Nikola is seeking a ZEV grants associate to join the Grants and Credits team to identify, apply for, and administer grant funding from various sources for heavy-duty fueling and charging infrastructure and trucks. You will be responsible for developing and editing application and other submission materials, evaluating new funding opportunities, and collaborating with funding agencies and coworkers across various teams to ensure projects and funding proceed as planned.

Sources and creates application and informational materials for RFI responses, new grant applications, and similar submissions
Collaborates with various Nikola, customer, consultant, and funding agency stakeholders to maximize grant funding opportunities across various Nikola activities, including infrastructure and truck deployments
Serves as primary point of contact for funding agencies on some awarded projects in Nikola’s grant funding portfolio
Creates and updates required documentation for ongoing grant funding opportunities, including project updates, reimbursement requests, and periodic reporting
Maintains database of known funding opportunities available and relevant to Nikola, prioritizing target markets, and provide recommendations on which to pursue
Works with Senior Manager to refine and implement processes to identify eligible projects for grant funding and submit applications to maximize the use of grant funds

Proficiency with MS Office suite, strong organizational and communication skills
Basic understanding of decarbonization and greenhouse gas emissions reduction principles
Entrepreneurial mindset to find creative ways to apply funding opportunities to Nikola projects
Ability to prioritize and coordinate various disparate grant funding workstreams with separate deadlines and deliverables, including cross-team and cross-organization collaboration
Preferred Experience
Bachelors in a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience)
3-5 years work experience, with experience in zero-emissions transportation or in grant administration a plus
Candidates with experience with any ZEV or decarbonization funding programs, with ZEVs/hydrogen and related technology, or with grant funding for any large industrial/energy infrastructure deployments preferred
Candidates must live in or be willing to relocate to Phoenix, AZ
Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN-eligible from Mexico or Canada. This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
