We are on the lookout for a NPI Manager to join our team. The position of New Product Introduction (NPI) Manager supports the scope, timing and cost of new products. This position will lead programs/projects and work closely with the Purchasing, Program Management, Engineering, Quality, Logistics and Manufacturing teams to implement our new products. The NPI team is ultimately responsible for the successful implementation of the program into production.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop your team
- Build relationships across multiple teams (Finance, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality) and work across different levels in the organization to ensure objectives are achieved
- Communicate the project/program deliverables, timeline, forecast and cost targets to Purchasing
- Coordinate with Engineering to ensure timely release of parts (SOW, drawings and Bill of Materials)
- Communicate to Program Management long lead items for proper timeline management. Highlight risks and implement mitigation plans
- Support material planning for new parts until supply contracts and scheduling agreements are issued and then transition to production controls
- Support on managing the Procurement Category and Standard Cost of new products/parts as they are added to the ERP
- Coordinate with Global Supply Managers (GSMs) and Procurement Engineers to ensure timely sourcing milestones are met
- Assess risks posed to the organization because of poor supplier performance and develop contingency plans to mitigate risk to the supply chain
- Work closely with the engineering team, quality team and suppliers to transition from prototype to production with best on class costs
- Identify and drive improvement of projects/ processes creating tools and voicing solutions; Work fluidly in a highly cross-functional team environment
- Generate and publish performance metrics on the program
- Work closely with Program Management, Engineering, Production Control, and Global Supply Management to clearly communicate the material plans, potential supply risks, and opportunities for improvements
- Coordinate efforts within the cross-functional team for all activities relating to the change management process to ensure a smooth transition for engineering changes
- Lead ERP/MRP systems as product owner to define strategies for supply chain process improvements
- This position supervises the work of four (4) NPI Engineers
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Materials Science and Engineering or closely related discipline, or the foreign equivalent thereof;
- 60 months of progressive work experience in a supervisory or managerial role in Materials, Supplier Quality and/or Continuous Improvement in the automotive, heavy equipment, or heavy duty truck industry
- Minimum experience must include deep understanding of production line, materials handling, logistics and supplier quality processes
- Experience in Plan for Every Part (PFEP) management
- Experience coordinating material handling operations
- Experience managing implementation and distribution of new products
