Position: Clerical Secretary/Receptionist
Reports to: Building Principal
Employment Status: Subsitute
Description: Answer phones and direct calls accordingly; greet visitors and answer their questions and concerns; provide secretarial support
Essential Functions:
- Ensure safety of students
- Issue appropriate passes to students, staff and seniors
- Perform duties of receptionist by answering telephone, recording appropriate messages, sorting/distributing mail and greeting visitors
- Operate and maintain all office equipment including copier, fax machine and computer
- Assist in the maintenance of the uniform filing system for all information and other pertinent data
- Handle routine correspondence independently
- Input information into and retrieve information from computer
- Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy
- Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., custodial papers, IEP's, birth certificates, grades, medications and health restrictions, court documents and papers
- Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents
- Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation
- Prepare and maintain all files for the Principal
- Prepare and maintain all pertinent information and update all busing forms
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal/Administrator
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare correspondence and other typing duties as directed
- Provide an accurate accounting for all monies received
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal
- Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner
- Serve as a role model for students
- Open and sort mail
- Perform bulk mailing

- Ability to type at least 40 words per minute
