Summary of Position
Niles Industrial Coatings, LLC is a privately held and financially strong industrial services company that prides itself on the safety of its workers. Niles is looking for an experienced QA/QC Manager with a specialization in industrial coatings to oversee quality assurance and quality control processes within our organization. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of coatings applications, extensive experience in writing specifications, and possess NACE Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 certifications. This role is critical to ensuring that our organization is meeting the highest quality standards and complying with industry regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Develop, implement, and maintain QA/QC processes and procedures related to coatings applications.
· Write and review technical specifications for coatings projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
· Conduct regular inspections and audits of coatings processes and applications to ensure adherence to quality standards.
· Collaborate with project managers and operations team to address quality-related issues and provide technical guidance on coatings selection and application.
· Ensure work is inspected for conformance with contract requirements, good painting practice, and internal QC procedures.
· Ensure that nonconforming work and rework is properly documented.
· Review and approve Daily Inspection Reports (DIR) in a timely basis. QCM may authorize review of DIR’s by other competent QC personnel.
· Perform the required tasks to maintain SSPC QP1 and QP2 certifications.
· Ensure inspection instruments are calibrated with procedure and contract requirements and available for use at job sites.
· Train and mentor team members on QA/QC best practices, coatings technology, and compliance requirements.
· Analyze and report on quality metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
· Coordinate with external vendors and contractors to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
· Coordinate courses for employees initial or upgrade NACE Quality Control Inspector certifications.
· Maintain Operator Qualifications (OQ) training and certification program.
· Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and advancements in coatings technology and incorporate relevant changes into QA/QC practices.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
· Minimum of 10 years of experience in the protective coatings industry.
· Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance and quality control, specifically in coatings.
· NACE Level 1 and Level 2 certifications are required.
· NACE Level 3 certification (preferred).
· Proven experience in writing technical specifications for coatings.
· Strong knowledge of coatings materials, applications, and industry standards.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
· Proficient in Microsoft office and other quality management systems and tools
