Description :
The Niles Park District is seeking a passionate and skilled Horticulturist to join our team full-time. Under the guidance of the Superintendent of Grounds, the Horticulturist will play a key role in enhancing the beauty and health of the District's parks and facilities by overseeing the design, planting, and maintenance of landscaped areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Landscape Management : Plan, coordinate, and execute the planting, care, and maintenance of flower beds, shrubs, and planters across District parks and facilities.
- Creative Design : Develop innovative and visually appealing layouts for flower beds and other landscaped areas.
- Plant Care : Monitor and manage the health of plants, addressing issues such as weed control, diseases, fungi, and pests.
- Team Leadership : Assist the Superintendent in, training, and supervising part-time staff to ensure high-quality work and a positive team environment.
- Budget Collaboration : Provide input during the budgeting process and make recommendations for future projects, equipment needs, and schedules.
- General Maintenance : Participate in general park upkeep, support special events, and contribute to snow removal efforts during the winter season.
