Lead AI Developer UI Strategy

The Virginia Department of Transportation's Information Technology Division is seeking a highly skilled Lead AI Developer UI Strategy to craft and integrate UI components using React.js and Angular methodologies with AI systems. This role requires optimizing front-end performance and maintaining comprehensive documentation for the front-end codebase.

• Lead the UI development team to design, develop, and deploy AI models that drive business value and innovation.
• Develop and implement UI components using React.js and/or Angular.
• Create and implement UI design layer strategies aligned with organizational goals.
• Integrate AI agents and autonomous systems for decision-making, workflow automation, and task delegation.
• Work with Agentic Data Engineers to design and deliver new features.
• Build reusable components and front-end libraries for future use.
• Translate designs and wireframes into high-quality code.
• Optimize components for maximum performance across various web browsers.
• Troubleshoot and debug UI issues for seamless user experiences.
• Conduct code reviews to maintain code quality and consistency.

• Proven experience driving AI initiatives and leading multi-functional teams of AI Scientists and AI Engineers.
• Strong expertise in ReactJS, deck.gl integration, and GIS-enabled visualizations (Azure Maps).
• Experience with Azure App Services, Azure ML Studio WS, Power BI, Azure Function Apps, Azure Container Apps, and Azure API Management.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Machine Learning, Azure Computer Vision, Azure Video Indexer, Azure OpenAI models, Azure Media Services, and Azure AI Search.
• Strong JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3 skills.
• Knowledge of React tools including React.js, Axios, React Router, and Redux.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, JSON Web Tokens, and modern authorization mechanisms.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Understanding of front-end build tools and pipelines.
• Ability to develop visual representations of agent states, decisions, and actions for enhanced comprehension of AI systems.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and leadership skills.
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
