Overview:
A leading roofing contractor headquartered in North Carolina is seeking an experienced and dedicated Commercial Roofing Safety Manager to oversee projects across the Southeast, including Alabama, North Carolina, and South Carolina. This role will focus on ensuring the safety and compliance of all roofing projects, overseeing safety protocols, and training field personnel to mitigate risk. The ideal candidate will hold OSHA 500 certification, have a strong background in fall protection, and possess other relevant safety certifications to maintain a safe work environment across multiple locations.
Responsibilities:
- Safety Program Development & Implementation: Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive safety program that aligns with company policies and OSHA regulations. Ensure that all safety standards are consistently met on every project across multiple states.
- Safety Training: Conduct regular safety training sessions for field personnel in Alabama, North Carolina, and South Carolina, including fall protection training, equipment handling, and hazard recognition. Ensure that employees are well-versed in safety protocols and properly utilize protective equipment.
- Site Safety Inspections: Perform regular site inspections at roofing projects throughout the Southeast to identify and address safety hazards, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards. Report findings and recommend corrective actions.
- Accident & Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents, near-misses, and unsafe work conditions. Document findings, recommend solutions, and ensure corrective actions are taken to prevent recurrence.
- Compliance Monitoring: Stay updated on OSHA regulations and industry best practices. Ensure that all job sites across Alabama, North Carolina, and South Carolina comply with relevant safety standards, including fall protection, PPE use, and safe roofing practices.
- Safety Equipment Oversight: Ensure proper maintenance, usage, and availability of all safety equipment, including fall protection systems, harnesses, and other protective gear. Ensure employees are properly trained in using this equipment.
- Safety Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training, accidents, and compliance audits. Provide regular reports to senior management on safety performance, incidents, and safety initiatives.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Project Managers, Foremen, and Construction Managers to promote safety awareness and ensure safety protocols are followed across all roofing projects.
Qualifications:
- Certifications: OSHA 500 Certification, Fall Protection Certification, and other relevant safety certifications (e.g., CPR/First Aid, Scaffold Safety, Confined Space).
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in commercial roofing safety management, with a proven track record of successfully maintaining safety compliance on roofing projects.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, fall protection systems, roofing safety standards, and hazard identification techniques.
- Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate safety protocols and procedures effectively to both field workers and management.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risk and implement solutions to mitigate safety hazards.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required. Additional safety management or construction safety courses preferred.
- License: Valid driver’s license required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to inspect job sites, including working at heights and in varying weather conditions across multiple locations in the Southeast.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and handling various safety equipment.
Health & Safety Responsibilities:
- Oversee the enforcement of safety protocols, ensure proper training, and take immediate corrective action when hazards are identified. Investigate any incidents and ensure proper follow-up to prevent future occurrences.
