Nino Development is looking for an experienced Lead Excavator Operator to join our team for commercial and residential sitework, roadway, and heavy highway projects in Charlotte, NC. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating heavy machinery in a variety of construction settings, particularly in sitework and infrastructure projects. This role involves leading a team of operators, ensuring all work is completed safely, on time, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate excavators and other heavy machinery for commercial and residential sitework, roadway, and heavy highway projects.
- Lead and supervise a team of equipment operators, ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
- Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and technical drawings to determine excavation requirements.
- Prepare construction sites by excavating trenches, foundations, and other necessary groundwork.
- Ensure proper maintenance and safety checks are conducted on all machinery before and after use.
- Work closely with project managers and foremen to ensure project deadlines are met and work is completed to specifications.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and other trades to ensure smooth workflow across the project.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and best practices on the job site.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with machinery or project challenges.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, job progress, and any issues that arise.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Lead Excavator Operator with a focus on commercial, residential sitework, roadway, and heavy highway projects.
- Extensive experience operating various types of heavy machinery, including excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, and loaders.
- Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and industry standards.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and plans.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring a team of operators.
- Ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- OSHA certification or similar safety training is required.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and maintain quality and safety.
