Nino Salvaggio is looking for a Grocery / Dairy / Frozen Operations Manager to oversee all grocery, dairy and frozen departments throughout the company which includes Troy, Clinton Twp, St Clair Shores, Bloomfield and Livonia (coming soon).

Essential Job Functions, Duties and Responsibilities

Ensures company, state and federal sanitation guidelines are followed in grocery / dairy / frozen walk in coolers, freezers, backrooms and sales floor areas at all company locations.

Ensures proper safety and sanitation procedures with shelves, coolers, freezers, keeping floor clean of debris, equipment is clean and in proper working order, hairnets are being worn properly, work areas are being kept clean and uniforms are following company guidelines.

Oversees and evaluates the appearance and integrity of all grocery, dairy and frozen products to ensure they comply with the companys freshness standards and our customers quality expectations.

Ensure the inventory levels are at the company standards and there are not any out of stock items for the current grocery / dairy / frozen selection. If there are out of stock items, ensure they are on order.

Ensure proper communication in regards to pre-booked items and a plan for these products with the Grocery / Dairy / Frozen Managers.

Ensure products are being purchased from the authorized vendor and in a timely manner.

Ensure products are transferred between stores when a store is long on a product.

Ensure the end caps, dumps and additional displays are merchandised to Nino Salvaggio standards following the current seasonal set.

Ensure properly rotation of all products on the sales floor and backrooms.

Evaluate problem areas, areas of concern and potential problem areas and develop a Plan of Action to correct them to discuss with the department manager as well as the general manager. Must follow up to ensure that the areas are corrected or remedied.

Ensure all stores are following the demo memo by visiting all stores on Fridays tasting the demo at each location to ensure proper recipe, sample size, product is displayed properly and packaged correctly.

Assist in the research, testing, and analyzing of new products for the departments, per company guidelines.

Ensure the new item implementations are being processed correctly.

Must be able to prepare and properly execute all aspects of the operation in the grocery / dairy / frozen departments. Adhere to all quality standards.

Must ensure that all Grocery / Dairy / Frozen Departments are adhering to all company standards on cost control, customer service, merchandising, product quality, employee relations, product presentation, product preparation, ordering, inventory, cleanliness, rotation, sanitation and organization.

Assists Grocery / Dairy / Frozen Managers in determining the variety and quantity of products to be carried in the department, according to orders, sales projections and customer base.

Assist the Grocery / Dairy / Frozen Managers with their department merchandising and budget plans and department goals, coordinating these plans and goals with the General Manager and Director of Operations.

Works with Department Managers and Director of Operations in negotiating with suppliers to arrange purchase and delivery of Grocery / Dairy / Frozen supplies and products. Reviews and monitors department purchasing of products and supplies in order to maximize operating results.

Ensures that the Grocery / Dairy / Frozen Department in all stores follow approved procedures for receiving product, dating, price marking and restocking cases to ensure quality protection, public image, accuracy and product rotation.

Works with the Department Managers to check and verify Grocery / Dairy / Frozen department merchandise received to ensure that all items listed on vendor invoices are delivered. Spot checks products for quality standards, count or weight and condition.

Works with Department Managers to prioritize goals to maximize operating results.

Comply with company policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook and memos, and state and federal safety policies, procedures, guidelines and laws; work with Grocery / Dairy / Frozen Managers to ensure that they are properly training their associates and that employees within the department are complying with company policies and procedures as outlined in the company handbook and memos, and state and federal safety policies, procedures, guidelines and laws.

Maintain good communications in the store and throughout the organization. Develop Grocery / Dairy / Frozen Managers and assist with the development of Assistant Managers and associates within the departments through training, supervision, delegation and appropriate rewards and discipline.

Be responsive to all company managements comments or areas of concern in the Grocery / Dairy / Frozen Departments.

Assist departments as needed with customer service and ensure that the department personnel are providing customers with prompt and courteous service and / or assistance, per our company customer service standards.

Ensure efficient Grocery / Dairy / Frozen Department organizational structure by assisting with the recruitment, employment, development, and recommendation of potential candidates for promotion from within if capable.

Ensure that the Department Managers are maintaining accurate schedules and time and attendance programs established in company computer systems.

Produce accurate reports and results for the departments as needed.

The ability to motivate Department Managers, Assistant Department Managers and associates to achieve company sales, cost control and customer service goals.

Lead by example.

Adhere to all local, state and federal health and labor laws, OSHA regulations and EEOC requirements, Health Department standards, etc. ensuring that the work environment is safe and healthful and free from discrimination, harassment and unsafe work conditions.

Must be thoroughly familiar with and able to work with all products carried in the department including being fully knowledgeable in the differences between the many varieties and types of Grocery / Dairy / Frozen product.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications :

• Must have at least 3 years of grocery buying and grocery / dairy management experience
• Food service certification is required
• Customer service experience required
• Must be organized and a great multi-tasker
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly
• Must be willing to travel to all Nino Salvaggio locations
