How you will make an impact…
This role is instrumental in shaping and maintaining an optimal staff member experience in the areas of HRIS interfacing, benefits management, and employment compliance.
What you will work on…
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices.
- Partner with external entities to prepare annual regulatory reporting and filing requirements.
- Build awareness campaigns highlighting the importance of and ongoing changes in HR compliance programs.
- Collaborate with HRIS vendor to ensure business continuity for People Operations day to day functions.
- Build, maintain, and ensure the compliance and user effectiveness of the HRIS.
- Serve as primary contact for benefit plan partners.
- Coordinate annual benefit open enrollment with third party vendors.

- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Employment Law, or other related field or equivalent experience.
- 2 years of HR generalist experience
- 3 years of subject matter experience in HR compliance focused roles.
- 3 years of subject matter experience with maintaining and optimizing a HRIS.
- Strong knowledge of employment law, labor regulations, and compliance frameworks.
- Knowledge of payroll policies related to shift work, on-call, and other fair labor practices.
- Change management implementation training.
Great to have…
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Employment Law, or other related field or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of subject matter experience in HR compliance focused roles.
- 5 years of subject matter experience with maintaining and optimizing a HRIS.
- Certifications: SPHR or SHRM-CP.
- Change Management certification.
Other things to note…
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- Full-time position.
- Company’s standard operating hours are Monday thru Friday 6a – 6p with production related activities requiring 24/7/365 shifts. This position will have regular working hours during M – F with an expectation of adjusting to meet with managers and employees working outside of the standards operating hours as needed.
- Niowave has multiple locations within the Lansing area. Travel between locations is expected in the role.
