What you can expect to work on…
This position plays a key role in the production of various medical radioisotopes using extraction methods developed at Niowave. The products will be shipped around the world for use in cancer therapies. Some of the daily activities include but are not limited to:
- Handling Sealed and unsealed forms of radioactive material.
- Radiological contamination surveys.
- Maintain radiation detectors.
- Assist in packaging, characterization, and disposition of radioactive waste.
- Regulatory compliance activities.
- Coordinating experiments or procedures in a laboratory setting.
- Maintains records in a comprehensive, reproducible, and accurate manner.
- Managing dosimetry exchanges and records.
- Maintains compliance with cGMP practices; participating in quality training and event retrospectives.
- Operates at a consistent and exemplary level of efficiency, producing high quality and accurate results.
- Contributes to inventory management, including radioactive and non-radioactive materials.
- Demonstrates accountability of self in following radiation and general safety procedures and promotes a culture of safety by helping others to do the same.
- Assist R&D staff in procedures involving radioactive material handling.
What you need to succeed…
- High school diploma or associate degree in nuclear engineering, radiological control technician, health physics technician, applied physics, or related field and 9 years of industry experience.
- Experience in a chemical laboratory, radiological facility, or related field.
- Solid understanding of radioactive decay and radiation safety.
- 4 years’ experience working with any or all of the following:
- Radioactive material
- Ongoing/routine production
- cGMP regulated work
- Analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; proficient in Microsoft applications.
- Organizational and project management skills for self and teams.
- Models the Niowave Values of Teamwork, Courage, Integrity, and Upright Zeal.
- Understands how to integrate into a new team/organization – appreciates the history of current state, know how and when to make suggestions, as well as using just the right pace to reach the improved future state.
- Understands their own communication and learning styles, can assess others’ styles, and is able to find the right path to connect the two.
- Demonstrates desire, capability and regularly engages in mentoring others in the how & why of standard practices related to operations, radiation safety, etc.
Great to have…
- Bachelor’s or Masters degree (or equivalent) in nuclear engineering, radiological control technician, health physics technician, applied physics, or related field.
- 10 years of industry experience.
- Trained forklift operator.
- National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists certification.
- Familiar with Quality Management System for control of documentation and procedures
