Job Summary :
The Transportation Specialist is essential to ensuring patients have access to non-emergency transportation services in compliance with insurance carrier protocols. This role involves reviewing patient charts in the EMR, coordinating transportation with providers thru Motive Care and Uber services, and adhering to all regulatory and organizational guidelines. The Transportation Specialist supports the mission of delivering superior patient care by facilitating seamless transportation arrangements that optimize patient access and satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
Transportation Coordination
- Access patient charts in the EMR to identify transportation needs.
- Schedule non-emergency transportation with vendors such as Motive Care and Uber based on insurance protocols.
- Ensure transportation arrangements align with insurance carrier requirements, including vendor preferences and coverage limitations
Insurance Compliance
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance carrier transportation policies.Verify documentation and authorization for transportation services as required.Submit required documentation for reimbursement or review by the Corporate Compliance Officer.Communication and Patient Support
Notify patients of transportation arrangements, including pickup details and any associated costs.Serve as the primary contact for patient transportation inquiries and concerns.Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to address transportation-related challenges and rescheduling needs.Administrative Duties
Maintain detailed records of transportation activities in the EMR and scheduling platforms.Monitor vendor performance and report issues to the Corporate Compliance Officer.Assist in analyzing transportation trends to identify opportunities for process improvements.Compliance and Training
Ensure all tasks adhere to HIPAA regulations and confidentiality requirements.Participate in ongoing training to enhance knowledge of compliance standards and transportation protocols.Qualifications
Education : High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience : Previous experience in healthcare, transportation coordination, or patient scheduling (preferred).Skills :
